Chuck Staley was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up living in a number of small towns in the South. After High School he studied art at the Memphis Academy of Arts and electronics at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Staley says, 'I have always had this thing about color. I remember going to see The Wizard of Oz as a child and crying when the movie started and it was in black and white.'
Although Chuck studied art, his professional career began in Television where he has worked extensively, directing countless hours of music videos, commercials and television programs of all sorts. And when Staley isn’t directing TV, he’s working in his Los Angeles, CA home/studio creating the thoughtful and painterly artwork for which he is becoming known internationally.
Chuck recalls his first paying artist’s job when he turned ten and received an oil tinting kit: 'A neighbor hired me to tint her black and white pictures. I got paid for it… two live chickens.' He adds with a smile, 'Thanks to all those since then who have purchased my art with actual money. I really appreciate it!'
